Our Commerce & Technology team, are holding a seminar a seminar on agency and distribution agreements, essential for any business that appoints agents or distributors for its goods, or is itself an agent or a distributor of goods.

The presenters are Simon Bates and Marion Kinshuck who have many years experience of advising on the appointment of agents and distributors, both in the UK and Europe.

Topics to be covered at the seminar include:

Agency agreements
• A reminder of some of the important implications of the Commercial Agents Regulations.

• How compensation will now be calculated on termination of agency agreements. Harvey Ingram acted in the leading ground-breaking House of Lords case last year which changed the way in which compensation on termination is calculated.

• Who is an agent? The scope of “agents” now caught by the Commercial Agents Regulations has widened.

• The importance of properly terminating agency agreements.

Distribution agreements
• The advantages and disadvantages of distributorship over agency.

• UK and European competition laws affecting distribution agreements.

• Avoiding common problems.


The seminar takes places on the on 19th March 2008 at the Lineker Suite, Walkers Stadium, Filbert Way Leicester LE2 7FL. It will start with registration and breakfast at 7.45am and we shall aim to finish with a Q&A session by 9.30am.
