What are we doing?
On average, our staff record over 1,750 hours of voluntary and pro-bono activity.
We have a long established connection with Leicestershire Cares, an initiative of Business in the Community, with our Birmingham Offices being members of Birmingham Cares. These connections have seen our workforce become involved in a wide number of initiatives, including:
- Right to read
This initiative involves volunteers attending local schools to help children improve their literacy skills and build their confidence when communicating with adults outside their normal school setting. 14 volunteers in out Leicester office currently attend the Inglehurst Primary School and Sparkenhoe Primary School.
- Collect 4 Christmas
Every year the cares organisations select a cause for member companies to support through fund raising and/or the donation of gifts. Previous recipients of assistance include Victims of Domestic Violence; Age Concern; Barnardos; Homeless Families and Vista the charity for visually impaired.
- Interview Techniques
This programme assists pupils at local schools and colleges, with volunteers providing students with much needed interview technique practice to hone their skills in readiness for the many important interviews they will all soon be facing.
- Pro Help
Is a national network of over 1,000 professional firms providing free professional advice and strategic support to local voluntary and community groups. Suitable projects are identified by monthly meetings with the local Pro Help Group. This initiative sees community organisations receiving specialist legal support from our staff, over a range of areas including advice on employment issues and the drafting of leases.
Birmingham Children's Hospital
Staff at our Birmingham Corporate Office have chosen to support Birmingham Children's Hospital.
Every year the city centre site treats more than 225,000 sick children from across the UK. Many face incredibly difficult circumstances. Their stories of courage, determination and hope are truly amazing and have inspired our staff to help support the youngsters and the superb efforts of the medical and nursing teams they rely on.
By supporting Birmingham Children’s Hospital we hope to make a little difference to the lives of thousands of children and families - when they need it most.
