Volunteering Projects
Our staff have taken part in a number of community based projects, dating back to June 2002.
Painting Success with Leicestershire Cares
In September 2011, a group of volunteers from our Leicester office took part in a painting project at the Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre, as part of our on-going involvement with Leicestershire Cares.
The challenge was to decorate a meeting room at the centre, which was in much need of a face lift. The centre lost funding from Leicester City Council many years ago and is now reliant on being self-financing. This was a great challenge, as many of the excellent activities available are undertaken by children and a lot of the centre's revenue stems from bookings from schools and colleges, where budgets are under great pressure!
The team of volunteers painted the walls, woodwork and ceiling tiles in the meeting room. The result was excellent, with the room being transformed by the team's hard work throughout the day.
Self Unlimited & Leicestershire Cares
A team of 17 Harvey Ingram volunteers took part in a Leicestershire Cares Project at Self Unlimited.
The project saw 110 staff from different member companies participate in eight separate projects on the 26-acre site at Shangton, near Market Harborough. Self Unlimited is essentially a care home for people with learning disabilities and offers excellent facilities to maximise the independence and enjoyment of the residents. A big thank you has been handed to all those who volunteered, who had an excellent and rewarding day.
Private Client Group
On 23 June 2008 in excess of 60 staff attended the Barley Croft Primary School in Beaumont Leys where they split into 8 teams tackling a range of tasks including:- painting games on the playground, gardening, clearing and revamping the eco pond, painting railings, and as shown in the photograph overhauling a willow igloo which links to a willow tunnel which was also given a makeover.
Endeavour Project
Friday 11th July 2008 saw a group of 25 volunteers provide a dramatic makeover at the Leicester Office of Endeavour. The charity provides challenge and inspiration to young people excluded from society across the UK, offering missing support and helping build confidence and self esteem. The projects included:- painting the front of the property, painting the foyer and stairwell, painting a classroom, wallpapering and painting the IT room, painting the toilets and laying carpet tiles in the classroom and IT room.
