Business Advisors Club: The Companies Act 2006 & Insolvency Update

The next meeting of the Business Advisors Club takes place on Thursday 2nd July 2009 and will provide an update on The Companies Act 2006 & an update on Insolvency.

Steve McElhone: Associate - Corporate Finance & Transactions
With effect from October 2008, the Companies Act 2006 introduced a new, simplified, procedure to allow companies to reduce their share capital. Steve will review the basic procedure and explain its potential uses.

Lisa Botterill: Associate - Corporate Finance & Transactions
The Companies Act 2006 has also made some far reaching changes to the memorandum and articles of association for companies formed after 1st October 2009. Lisa will give an overview of the forthcoming changes, look at what a typical company's constitution may look like in future and consider some of the issues that these changes may raise for client companies.

Sean Moran: Partner - Head of Corporate Recovery & Insolvency
Finally, Sean will provide an update on recent developments in the area of corporate recovery and insolvency looking at a selection of interesting cases, important advice for directors of struggling companies and the latest news and views on pre-pack sales of insolvent businesses.

This seminar will be held at the Rose Rooms, Belmont House Hotel, De Montfort Street, Leicester. It will start with registration and breakfast at 7.45am and we shall aim to conclude with a question and answer session by 9.30am.
