Corporate Pensions

Employers

From large occupational pension schemes to small self-administered schemes, the pensions team works closely with the employment law group to deal with the legal, employee relations and commercial implications of actions affecting pension schemes and their employers, trustees and members.

We can help with:

  • setting up pension schemes, including reviewing explanatory literature and communications to members;
  • the legal and actuarial issues involved in defining and controlling the costs of pension schemes;
  • the interpretation of scheme documents and the exercise of duties, powers and discretions in the light of the relevant law;
  • managing the relationship with scheme trustees, including appointing and removing trustees;
  • restructuring pension arrangements as a result of financial and regulatory pressures or changes within a business;
  • proposals to terminate or reduce liability to pay contributions to a pension scheme;
  • Pensions Act and other compliance issues, including stakeholder requirements and working with The Pensions Regulator; and
  • the pensions aspects of service agreements, including the pensions aspects of terminations of employment.
We aim to provide tailored and commonsense advice, strategies and solutions for your pension arrangements so that they can meet current requirements and accommodate future needs.
