Birmingham advisers help Hydrock engineer ambitious acquisition
Release date: 27/08/2008
Birmingham expertise has helped Hydrock Consultants, one of the country's fastest growing consultants to the construction industry, complete the acquisition of fellow civil engineering consultant Structures 1, for an undisclosed sum.
The deal was overseen by two Birmingham-based specialist corporate advisory teams, with legal advice provided by Harvey Ingram, led by partner Rick Smyth, and corporate finance advice from Friend LLP, led by Mike Yiannis.
As a result, Hydrock is now able to expand its range of civil engineering, consultancy, structural and environmental expertise even further.
Hydrock managing director Dr Brian McConnell said: "This is a major step in the growth of Hydrock. The acquisition of Structures 1 not only reflects our strength and position, but also demonstrates our intent to invest in top-notch firms, which share the same vision that will help grow our business. We were delighted with the assistance given to us by Harvey Ingram and Friend who helped complete the deal very quickly with some absolutely first-class and timely advice."
The acquisition follows praise from The Times, which recently named Hydrock among the UK's top 10 medium-sized employers with a coveted inclusion in its Best 100 Companies to Work For Survey 2008 - for the second year running. Hydrock was also the only engineering and construction company to appear in the listings' top tier.
Harvey Ingram partner Rick Smyth said: "We were delighted to be able to help Hydrock with this key, strategic expansion. It represents the beginning of a new era for Hydrock and it demonstrates our continued focus on providing quality legal advice to the owner-managed business market."
Mike Yiannis, Corporate Finance partner at Friend, said "Hydrock are a high quality business with exceptional management and we are delighted to have assisted them on their acquisition."
