Cricket-loving professional services teams go into bat for charity
Release date: 4/06/2008
Seven of the county's top professional services firms are going into bat for good causes again this summer, in the RBS Leicestershire Corporate Cricket League.
Top elevens from Harvey Ingram, RBS Commercial Banking, Cooper Parry, Howes Percival, Robert Whowell & Partners / HBJ Gateley Waring and Tenon, will all compete in a round-robin tournament throughout the summer months. The competition will be rounded off with an all-day play-off at Grace Road, on September 2, to decide the final standings.
Organisers are also set to raise more than 1,000 for Rainbows, Vista and Age Concern, from this summer's matches.
League co-ordinator and RBS associate director Steve Mitchell said: "We are all keen cricketers and launching the league last year seemed like a good reason for us to regularly get together, compete, as well as great way to raise money for some important charities.
"Last year's winners were Tenon, who beat off Howes Percival to clinch the final. They consistently fielded a very strong side and have really set the benchmark for the rest of us to rise to. But the gauntlet has been thrown down and I'm confident there will be some stiff competition this year."
Regular updates will be issued throughout the summer months.
