Headway volunteers treated to Harvey Ingram presentation
Release date: 15/05/2011
Volunteers from brain injury charity Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland Headway, were treated to a fund-raising reception by Harvey Ingram staff.
Headway specialises in providing support and services for adults with brain injuries and their families. It works across the region covering all aspects of rehabilitation and education for those who have suffered an acquired brain injury, as well as advising and guiding families and their carers.
As part of the 2011 Brain Injury Awareness Week, Headway fund-raiser Alison Leight and volunteers visited Harvey Ingram's offices for a luncheon with the firm's key staff. Harvey Ingram already has a close working relationship with Headway. But the recent arrival of senior legal executive and brain injury specialist Dawn Slow, a current Headway trustee, has helped cement the firm's links.
During the past week, led by Dawn, Harvey Ingram's Personal Injury team has also been fund-raising on behalf of Headway, which relies on voluntary donations to continue to provide its vital services.
Dawn says: "Support for Headway from within the firm has been superb. It's clear staff love a fund-raising challenge particularly when its for a cause like Headway. Just about everyone knows someone who has been directly affected by head or brain injuries, whether as a patient, or the family member of a patient. Headway's work in the region is second to none and given it relies heavily on donations, it's a cause we're delighted to be part of."
Harvey Ingram was also recently appointed a member of The Brain Injury Group, exclusively covering the Leicester, Loughborough and Grantham areas. The group's formation has created the UK's first national network of dedicated head injury lawyers and experts who together will provide a comprehensive service for all affected by brain injuries.
