Release date: 06/03/2008

Edinburgh Woollen Mills' manufacturing arms Heather Mills and Mackinnons of Scotland, have been acquired by Richard Roberts Kandy, based in Sri Lanka.

The deal was overseen by Harvey Ingram, which has already completed a host of negotiations across the Indian sub-continent and Far East, thanks to its network of overseas intermediaries.

Andrew Bryars, chairman of Richard Roberts Group, said: "This is a superb acquisition for us. The team at Harvey Ingram has been a great help and we are delighted with the way the negotiations were quickly concluded."

The deal was overseen by specialist Harvey Ingram corporate lawyers Roy Botterill and Rosie Prabhakar.

Roy Botterill, head of the firm's corporate team, said: "This really highlights the flexibility and capability of Harvey Ingram's team of specialists, who are very comfortable operating in an increasingly global marketplace. We already have a well-established network of intermediaries in the Indian sub-continent and Far East working on behalf of the firm. This is precisely the kind of acquisition we are geared up to deal with."
