Professional services teams go back into bat for charity
Release date: 1/7/2009
Top professional services firms return to the crease and go into bat for good causes, when they compete for the third year in the RBS Leicestershire Corporate Cricket League.
Teams are being fielded by RBS Business & Commercial Banking, Harvey Ingram, Howes Percival, Tenon and a joint team from Robert Whowell & Partners and HBJ Gateley Wareing. They will all compete in a round-robin tournament throughout the summer months, before the competition is completed with a finals day at Kibworth Cricket Club on September 8th, to decide the winner.
Organisers are also set to raise more than £1,600 for charities Loros and Menphys, from this summer's matches.
League co-ordinator and RBS Business & Commercial Banking Manager Wayne Bowers says: "This is now something of a well-established tradition among Leicestershire's professional services firms. As always, the summer league provides us with a good excuse to regularly get together, compete, as well as great way to raise money for several vital charities.
"Last year's winners were the new boys from Robert Whowell & Partners and HBJ Gateley Wareing, who beat the previous two years' winners Tenon, so the gauntlet has been thrown down to everyone for the coming summer. Robert Whowell & Partners and HBJ Gateley Wareing fielded a very strong side last year and they have raised the benchmark for the rest of the teams. But I'm confident there will be some very stiff competition for top spot this year."
Regular updates will be issued throughout the summer months.
