Team effort paves the way for iconic theatre’s opening
Teams across Harvey Ingram have helped pave the way for the long-awaited opening of Leicester’s iconic £60 million, state-of-the-art Curve theatre.
Partner, licensing and litigation specialist Frank Whale, has just completed the last step by overseeing successful entertainment and drinks licences for the new 1,100-seat venue.
Curve is one of numerous key Leicester landmarks Frank has worked on.
He said: “Curve is set to become an iconic venue for the city and I was delighted to be able to help out on such a prestigious project. The legal work was right up our street and I am pleased to see all licensing matters were resolved in a smooth and timely manner.”
Completion of the licensing work marks the final step in several years' effort by the firm and follows a lot of behind-the-scenes work. Chris Nuttall, Martin Jones, Mark Jones, Matt Duckworth and Debra Mansfield, all dealt with separate matters on behalf of the theatre's developers.
All teams have been working towards Curve’s scheduled opening later this year.
The new theatre was designed by world-renowned architect Rafael Vinoly and is the cornerstone of Leicester’s new cultural quarter. The stunning steel and glass venue features a main 750-seat main auditorium and a smaller 350-seat space. It has a magnificent open-plan foyer set among café, bars, backstage and office areas.
The venue is a partnership between Leicester Theatre Trust, Leicester City Council and Phoenix Arts. It was funded with the help of a host of organisations including the Arts Council, National Lottery, EMDA, European Regional Development Fund and Leicestershire Economic Partnership.
