Volunteer team to give charity's new headquarters a makeover
Release date: 9/07/2008
The new Melton Street base of young people's charity Endeavour, is set to get a makeover thanks to a 30-strong team from Leicester law firm Harvey Ingram.
Endeavour works with disaffected young people deemed to be at risk of violence, drug abuse, homelessness, or any who may have dropped out of school, or are unable to find work. Following an expansion and rising demand for the charity's work in the East Midlands, it has decided to move its Leicester base to a new site at 9-11 Melton Road.
To help improve the new base, a 30-strong Harvey Ingram team of volunteers working on behalf of Leicestershire Cares, will spend Friday, July 11, giving the charity's new site an overhaul by laying new floors, painting walls, hanging wallpaper and improving the building's appearance.
Harvey Ingram is tackling the decorating challenge through charity Leicestershire Cares, a membership organisation of all key employers in Leicester and Leicestershire. It is dedicated to corporate responsibility, by bringing businesses and the community together for the benefit of both.
Harvey Ingram partner Steven Baylis plus trainee solicitors Nicola Glaves and Steven Conway, are overseeing the makeover.
Nicola says: "We are delighted to be able to help. Endeavour is a vital and hugely influential charity for hundreds of young people and the chance to help out like this was too big an opportunity for us to miss. The charity's new site is a larger building, in a superb location, but it does need some improvement work. Around 30 volunteers will spend a day improving the new building. If all goes to plan it will be get a full makeover within a matter of hours."
