Keeping Planning Permissions Alive
In the current economic climate, developers are increasingly looking at the option of deferring the implementation of planning permissions due to viability and lack of demand.
It is hardly surprising that the Government are now considering a u-turn on the 2005 amendment to the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, which reduced the five year duration of full planning permissions to three, allowing developers greater flexibility.
However, in the meantime, developers have to assess what works they need to carry out to keep their planning permissions alive, regardless of whether or not they intend to proceed with the development, and when to carry out those works.
